The Archbishop, Province of the Niger and Bishop, Anglican Diocese of Awka, Anambra state, Most Reverend Dr Alexander Ibezim, on Sunday, literally wept during his sermon over the COVID 19 pandemic and urged Christians to intercede for God's mercy as Christians enter Holy Week.
Ibezim, in a homily at virtual Palm Sunday church service at Our Savior's Anglican Church, Emmaus House Awka, broadcast live on some traditional electronic and social media platforms, lamented that Nigeria and other parts of the world were bleeding from the pains of Coronavirus.
He, however, urged Christians to cry unto God to forgive the sins of mankind and have mercy in accordance with His words which according to him reads, " He will heal our infirmities; He will restore our health; the Lord is compassionate."
"I charge you to use this riumphal entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem '', to call on "Him to heal us and save us from the Coronavirus pandemic since viruses are subject to Jesus Christ's command. We are witnessing crisis of in all fronts ,but God Almighty will save mankind from the Coronavirus in Jesus Christ's name ...Amen."
The Archbishop said the service which was celebrated with assistance with few Venerables, his wife--Mrs Martha Chioma Ibezim, the family and domestic staff, was in conformity with the Anambra State government guidelines on social distancing, hand washing and use of hand sanitizers.
