The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra State Chapter, has appealed to parents and guardians to enroll their wards aged 10 to 15 on the forthcoming Anambra Football Kiddies camp championed by Maureen Madu, a former Assistant coach of Super Falcons.

Anambra Football kiddies camp, holding at Onitsha between 19 to 23 December 2020, is aimed at nurturing and positioning talented female footballers to make the world and Nigeria proud.

SWAN in a communique signed by its Chairman, Mr Tony Oji and Secretary, Mr Chimezie Anaso, said the project was commendable and worth participating actively, and enjoined all stakeholders to support Madu, the Anambra Football Ambassador to actualise her dream of grooming champions.

The sports journalist equally commended Dr Emeka Okeke led caretaker committee of Anambra Football Association (ANSFA), for reviving the state football sector, recognising the place of SWAN and sponsoring the Best Sports Writers award in the state, and urged other stakeholders to emulate him.

“SWAN sues for imminent conclusion of the 2020 Anambra State Football Association elections while commending the Dr. Emeka Okeke led AnSFA Caretaker Committee for  laying a solid foundation for goal- oriented football administration in Anambra

“SWAN is immensely thankful to her numerous stakeholders who contributed in different measures to the success of the just concluded SWAN week, some of which are Anambra Sports Development Commission, Divine Systematic investment Ltd, Spine Communications Ltd, among others.

“SWAN commends Gov.Willie Obiano's efforts at addressing the infrastructure deficiency in the sports sector and expressed satisfaction with the pace of work at Awka Township stadium. The association however called on the contractor to deliver the project according to specification and within the proposed date.

"SWAN lauds the State government for keeping athletes in camp and called on Team Anambra contingent to Edo 2020 to remain focused in their preparations and urge them to go to Benin City and surpass their previous records at the National Sports Festival," it added.
