GP world emerges champion of MyAnambra Super 8 football tournament

GP World FA Nnewi, Saturday, emerged the winner of Anambra State maiden Super 8 football tournament organised by the State Football Association (AnSFA) and sponsored by Aspire FC, Adazi.

GP World emerged champions after defeating Konti FC Umunnachi with 4 goals to 3 in a penalty shoot out played at the Neros Stadium Nanka.

The champion was presented with N500,000 , while Konti FC and second runner up, Mekon United FC had received N300,000 and N200,000 respectively. 

Reacting, Hon.  Emeka Okonkwo, the director of Konti FC commended his team for their performance, assuring that they would do their best to win the trophy next time.

Also speaking, Prince Oliver Ndigwe, the chairman of organising committee of the tournament, commended the 27 teams that participated in the tournament for decorum and spirit of sportsmanship, promising that the next edition would be better.

According to him, the Super 8 Tournament was part of “My Anambra Football's” “Next 10” year plan to reawaken football in Anambra State.

On his part, the initiator of MyAnambraFootball and former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Anambra State Football Association, Dr Emeka Okeke, said the event is continues, even as he urged more participation in the 2022 edition with a view to reposition the state in its former pedestal in football.
