A coalition of youth groups in Anambra State under the auspices of Concerned Anambra Youths For Good Governance (CAYGG) has raised alarm over alleged plots to redeploy the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and possibly rig the election.
CAYGG, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mazi Emeka Ikechukwu, alleged that information at their disposal showed that the plan was to make it possible for emergence of the candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Andy Uba.
"Ndi Anambra must be awake to resist any plans by the APC to rig in Andy Uba. Any plan to use any group to cause security issues that will pave way for the deployment of the military in Anambra State to intimidate Anambra voters will be resisted.
"We therefore call on the National Chairman of INEC to remain steadfast and unswayed as the loyalty of the Commission must be to the people of Nigeria. They must resist any plan to usurp the independence of the electoral Commission in the Forthcoming Anambra Election.
"We call on ndi Anambra youth, women, religious and traditional rulers, president generals of the various town unions to be awake and ensure that the plot is thwarted," it further maintained.
