Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Sunday, hailed Nigeria's democracy, stressing that it has been a continuous struggle towards a better society.

Soludo, who disclosed this in a special Church service to mark June 12 Democracy Day Celebration at Governor's Lodge, Amawbia, noted that nation building was a consequence of struggle for class, social or otherwise.

According to a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Christian Aburime, Governor Soludo hinted that every perfect society in the world, accounting for various contestations and contradictions bring out the best in the society.

"The values such as focus, determination and perseverance are indispensable in this kind of struggle. The Governor pointed out that for Ndi Anambra, it is a struggle to build a liveable and prosperous homeland where everybody has very fundamental role to play.

"Governor Soludo recalled that bonding together, Nigeria consistently struggled against dictatorship during which many people even paid the ultimate price. He stressed that the sacrifices by the late MKO Abiola and others, in the course of the struggle that gave rise to the Democracy Day celebration will not be taken for granted," the statement
