The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Tuesday, deployed a total of 1790 corps members for 2022 Batch B, stream one exercise in Anambra State.

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Blessing Ekene Iruma, who disclosed this during the swearing-in exercise held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC permanent orientation camp at Mbaukwu/Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area, explained that 1029 of them were females while 761 were males.

According to Iruma, the corps members were tested and confirmed for the exercise, kitted and accommodated in line with the COVID-19 pandemic protocol and currently adjusting to the camp life.

She further explained that the camp was secured for corps members and urged them to translate their talents and skills into practical terms as "This is the time for you to endeavour to give accurate accounts of yourselves and background. We do hope you will sustain the tempo."

The NYSC coordinator further appealed to governor Chukwuma Soludo to find ways of addressing their erosion menace challenges as it has become a threat to them.

"While we commend Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his continuous fatherly support to the scheme in the state, I want to remind him of the need to address the menace caused by erosion inside the orientation camp. A causal look around the camp reveals different portions already ravaged by the erosion and if not checked early, it might threaten the existing structures and destroy the beauty of this camp that has attracted the admiration of all," she noted.
