Anambra: Soludo applies for N100 billion loan, as House passes N169.6b revised appropriation bill

Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has applied for N100 billion loan from the Global Limit Multiple Term loan facility barely 55 days after presenting a bill of N169.6bllion before the state House of Assembly.


According to a letter dated July 5, 2022 and read by the Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Uche Okafor, during the Friday's plenary, the loan would assist the governor embark on construction and refurbishment of key infrastructure in the state.


The letter has been referred to the House Committee on Public Accounts for consideration and they would report to the House on Thursday, July 21.


Meanwhile, the House during the plenary passed the state revised 2022 Appropriation Bill of N169.6 billion into law 55 days after it was presented by the governor.


The passage followed adoption of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation which indicated that N108 billion was provided for capital expenditure and N61.3 billion recurrent expenditure.


The Chairman of Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Obinna Emeneka, who presented the report, said they decided to retain the size of the revised budget after a thorough scrutiny and review, although with little adjustments in some ministries, department and agencies’ allocation.


The Speaker of the House, Mr Uche Okafor commended the committee for thorough scrutiny of the budget and conducted a voice vote for the adoption of the report.


Okafor further directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Mrs Esther Anaetoh, to send a copy of the bill to governor Soludo for his assent.
