Government, Group partner to boost Cocoa, Plantain production

Anambra State Government says it will partner Cocoa and Plantain Farmers Association of Nigeria to revolutionize plantation of the produce in the state.

The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Foster Ihejiofor made this known in his office while receiving in audience a delegation of the association on a courtesy visit.

He told them that the present administration would work with relevant bodies to attract investment in agro value chain to generate funds needed for actualization of the livable  and prosperous mega city project.

While expressing the readiness of the government to engage youths in agriculture for wealth creation, he noted that mass production of the two inter crops would place the state in the nation's agricultural map.

Earlier, the leader of team, Samuel Dickson,  said  they were in the state in continuation of their campaign on plantation of the two economic crops.

He added that they had distributed seedlings and suckers to farmers in the state last year,  even  as he solicited for assistance of the Ministry to flag off distribution of the crops on 8th September,2022.

According to Dickson, who is the South East Vice President of the Association,"Cocoa farming is one of the most profitable businesses for entrepreneurs looking to invest in agriculture"

"It provides a large harvest without demanding too much effort or much mechanized equipment and has a very wide global market on standby to purchase."
