The Anambra State Police command, Wednesday, confirmed abduction of another former House of Assembly member in the State, Hon. Benson Nwawulu.

Nwawulu, who represented Ogbaru Constituency 1 in the State House of Assembly, was said to have been kidnapped at home in Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area.

The incident happened two months after the abduction and killing of Hon. Nelson Achukwu, who represented Nnewi South, and three months after same fate befelled Hon. Okechukwu Okoye who was representing Aguata 1 where governor Chukwuma Soludo hails from. Okoye was kidnapped and killed with his aide, Hon. Cyril Egboka.

Nwawulu, two term lawmaker and candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Ogbaru Federal Constituency in 2019, was kidnapped on Sunday, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga.

Ikenga, who confirmed the abduction, said the command was working on releasing him.

“He will be rescued soon, because we are on their trail, and efforts are on top gear, and soon he will be rescued," he stated.

However, a source claimed that one of the sons of the former lawmaker had contacted some current members of the state assembly who were Nwawulu’s colleagues for funds to meet up with the ransom demanded by the abductors.
