The Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), Dr Tajudeen Sanusi, Wednesday, warned that the council would not hesitate to sanction and reprimand unethical medical practitioners.

Sanusi, who gave the charge at Awka, Anambra State capital, while inducting 43 graduands of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOUTH), Awka, stressed that primary responsibility of medical practitioners was to save lives.

He, therefore, urged the new inductees to conduct selves professionally and abide by their ethics always, because medical field, according to him, was being regulated.

Also speaking, the Anambra State Commissioner For Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, commended the new doctors, assuring them that governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration was determined to uplift the State health sector.

Earlier, the Vice Chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, Professor Greg Nwakoby, and the Provost of the College of Medicine of the University, Prof. Emmanuel Ojiyi, charged the inductees to remain ambassadors of the institution.
