The Presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, Monday, condemned the attack on the Senator representing Anambra South, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, which led to death of about six police officers, three aides to the lawmaker and another person.

Obi, in an interview with newsmen at Abuja, was quoted to have urged perpetrators of crimes nationwide to have a re-think about their actions, which according him, was "injurious to the growth and development Nigeria urgently needs now that suffering abounds in the land.”

He commiserated with Ubah and the families of the bereaved, and urged Governor Chukwuma Soludo not to relent on his efforts to restore sanity to the state.

Speaking in an interview in Awka, the Anambra State capital, the immediate past Senator for Anambra South and governorship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) on Anambra 2021 poll, Emmanuel Andy Uba, described the act as shocking, horrific and uncalled for.

"These attacks are uncalled for and it's alien to Igbo culture to maim and kill humans. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the families of the victims. I urge the Government to do the needful in bringing total peaceful sanity to our dear Anambra state," he added.

On his part, the Senatorial candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, for Anambra South for 2023 poll, Engr. Chris Azubuogu, described the incident as a rude shock, reprehensible and condemnable attack.

"With a heavy heart, I sincerely commiserate with the distinguished Senator; the families of his late aides and the entire Police Community over the lives lost during the attack. I'm confident, in the face of assurances by Mr. Governor, that security agencies will fish out the perpetrators of the barbaric attack and bring them to book," he added.

Contributing in a statement, the Federal House of Representatives candidate of Labour Party for Awka North and Awka South, Prof. Oby Lilian Orogbu, described the attack as unfortunate, devilish, and urged the state government and security operatives to ensure that the culprits were fish out to face the wrath of law.
