Eidul-Mawlid: Anambra former deputy governor felicitates with Muslim faithful

Anambra Former Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, has felicitated with Muslim faithful in the country as they mark 2022 Eid-ul-Mawlid  celebration.


Okeke urged the Muslims faithful  to unite in ideas that would make Nigerian indivisible and promote developmental  ideas  that will build a stronger nation as the Federal Government  has declared  Monday, October 10, a public holiday.


He made the call in an interview on Friday.


He said that the Public Holiday was to mark the year Eid-ul-Mawlid Celebration in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad should enthrone principles that would encourage Peaceful co existence and progress of the nation.


Okeke said that the celebration is very apt and hope the moment would instill in minds of the people to seek for love and unity of the nation especially as the nation plans for  2023 general elections.


He said that security of lives and properties of Nigerians  should be a ultimate goal at the hearts of every Nigerians irrespective of their religious belief .


Okeke commended the President Muhammadu Buhari administration  on his efforts to sustain the peaceful co existence of the nation as the nationalist of the past struggled to make the country one unified nation .


Newsmen reports that the holiday was announced by Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in statement on Thursday in Abuja.


He congratulate all Muslims both at home and in the Diaspora for witnessing this year’s occasion.


He admonishes all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love, patience, tolerance and perseverance which are deep spiritual virtues and which the Holy Prophet Muhammad exemplified, adding that doing so would guarantee peace, security and harmony in the country.


Aregbesola enjoins Nigerians, particularly Muslims, to refrain from violence, lawlessness and other acts of criminality as a sign of true celebration of the prophet.


The statement reads “As the indisputable leader of our race, we must demonstrate responsible leadership in Africa”, the Minister stated.


He called  for a stop to all divisive tendencies across the country, and urges all Nigerians, and the youth in particular, to embrace the virtues of hard work and peaceful disposition to fellow humans, .


He said people irrespective of  their faith, ideology, social class and ethnicity should  join hands with the  Buhari led-Administration in its effort to build a progressive and enviable nation that all citizens would be proud of.


The Minister urges Nigerians to be security conscious, asking them to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest security agency and through the N-Alert application on Android and IOS.


He said  “when you see something do N-Alert, as this would elicit prompt response from security agents”.


The Minister wishes all Muslims a happy celebration and Nigerians a happy holiday .
