Mr Kene Ikwunne, National Director, Save And Secure The Child Initiative(SASCI),  Non -Governmental Organsation, (NGO)has called on wealthy citizens to partner government to secure better life for poor citizens.

SASCI, which made the call on Monday,  reports that the body is planning to hold its annual scholarship scheme  to some selected  indigent pupils and students  on Oct. 28 in over 30 schools in Anambra Central Senatorial Zone.

Ikwunne, represented in the meeting by his wife, Mrs Chinwe, the registrar of the organsaition, noted that harsh economic reality of the country has thrown many indigent children out of school and exposed the youths to lots of social ills which calls for government and individual attention.

Ikwunne said that SASCI was created on March 2020 based on his assessment of hardship on the people especially low income  earners and called for joint efforts by government and spirited  people to give meaning to thousands of needy children.

Chief Paul Anaezeofor, the sponsor of the 2022 scholarship scheme of SASCI  said that the NGO  was  founded and financed by people of like minds who prides selves in service to humanity.

Anaezeofor said that himself , Ikwunne and Chief Kingsley Obi formed the organisation and  recruited people who delight in giving to the society without counting gain or cost  to campaign Against Child Abuse in Nigeria.

He disclosed that the NGO SASCI is in over 20 states of Nigeria and that they have handled various cases ranging from  rapes, domestic violence , educational denial due to poverty   and have been an assertive voice for the abused voiceless children.

He said that their basic means of operation are based on their 3 R’s which are Recognise Child Abuse, Responding to child Abuse and Reporting Child Abuse cases.

“ The denial of a child’s right to education is considered as abuse by SASCI and that is why ,we are committed in  providing enabling environment for the indentified  indigent pupils and students  in the state.

“We recognise the importance of education in development of human beings and take to heart in giving chance to indigent persons room to improve themselves,” he said.

Mrs Nneka Anaemene, the financial secretary of the body said that members were committed to give hope to indigent persons and urged wealthy individuals to partner the organisation so as to reach out to more persons.

Anaemene said that  lack of fund is limiting the progress of the organisation as it is their utter most goal to reach out to many persons in need as possible.

Miss Beke Ebele, The Public Relation Officer, of SASCI  said that the body is based majorly on child development  and urged the public to emulate the steps of NGO in child development.

Ebele  appealed to the philanthropist in the state to adopt a child within their community as a bid to give hope of living to indigent persons in the society

Earlier, the Legal Adviser, Barrister Emenike Nnajide collaborated the claims of other members of the NGO on its usefulness in the society, which according to him, has handled many cases of Child abuse and molestation and these fears need to be killed in minds of growing children in the society.

He said that NGO is truly a charity based organisation because all their activities are self financing.

Nnajide appeals to the public to emulate the steps of the organisation to either finance actions that borders on children abuse or offer legal assistance to victims within their domains
