2 die, 9 injured, as commercial bus hit faulty parked truck in Anambra

At least two persons were killed, Saturday, as a commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number AGL 552 JT hit a truck without registration number at Nteje, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State.


Eyewitness, Mr Chinedu Nweribe, said the road crash which occured at Curtis filling station by Nteje-Awka expressway, left eight persons comprising 3 male adults, 3 female adults and 2 female children injured.


According to Nwaribe, the truck being hit earlier developed fault and was parked somewhere along the road undergoing repair when the commercial bus rammed on it.


The Acting Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, Ms Margaret Onabe, who confirmed the report, hinted that both the injured and the dead have been taken to a nearby hospital.


"The FRSC rescue team from RS5.33 Nteje Unit Command took the victims to Chira Hospital Awkuzu where 1 male adult and 1 female child were confirmed dead, while others are receiving treatment. The dead victims were deposited at same hospital morgue. 


"The rescue team are still on ground managing traffic to ensure obstruction caused by the crash is cleared. The Sector Commander, Adeoye Irelewuyi has commiserated with the family of the dead victims, and sends his prayers to the injured persons," she added.
