Anambra State police command, on Sunday, announced arrest of two suspected killers of deceased staff of Polaris bank, Ms Ifeoma Onyekwelu.
Onyekwelu was kidnapped on December 13, 2024 at Onitsha and her family allegedly paid about N25 million ransom to her abductors only for her lifeless body to be recovered at Ideani junction, along Nnobi road in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, on Sunday, said that two suspects were arrested in connection to the murder on 28 May, 2025.
“The two suspects were allegedly involved in the kidnap and murder of a female Bank Manager after the collection of a ransom of (N14m) Fourteen Million Naira in Onitsha. The Operatives while on diligent investigations trailed two of the suspects one Monday Egbe ‘M’ aged 32 years and Kenneth Nnoga ‘M’ aged 28 years to their criminal hideout in a neighbouring State.
“The unfortunate incident happened on the 13th of January, 2025 when the lifeless body of the victim was found along Nnobi Road with her eyes tied after the abductors had collected the ransom of N14m from the deceased family”, he noted.
According to him, the suspects were currently undergoing interrogations for more insights into their modus Operandi and possible arrest of other gang members, even as the Commissioner of Police, Dr Ikioye Orutugu has reassured the residents that the Command would continue to live up to their Mandate of protection of lives and properties of Ndi Anambra and residents.
