United Traders Association, a nongovernmental organisation, has said it has empowered over two hundred and fifty market women in Anambra state with some palliatives aimed at cushioning the effects of coronavirus on them.
The President and founder of the association, Mrs Nkiru Duru, who disclosed this in an interview with Blueprint, said the NGO which would in the next two
months visit destitute and motherless babies homes across the Southeast geopolitical zone had gifted widows and some selected less previlaged women.

"We have so far empowered over 250 women including widows since the lockdown. We have also connected all market women in the south East geopolitical zone and 250 women which include woman leaders and Coordinators were assisted with Covid-19 palliative as a way to fight hunger and food scarcity during the pandemic. By next month we shall be reaching out to you destitute homes at least one per each market in the south East,” Duru added.
According to her, the charity works were in line with the aims and objectives of the association among which were enhancement of the welfare of members, to ensure the relevance of market women in the society as well as to reducing stress in business life through it's social activities .
She recalled that the association had last week paid solidarity visit to the Spiritual Director of Holy Ghost Adoration Ministry Ukeh, Idemili South LGA, Rev . Father Emmanuel Obimma (Ebube muonso) during which he challenged the Association to through their activities harvest souls for God.
