A mild drama played out at the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) board election held in Awka on Friday as the delegates voted out the unopposed Chairmanship candidate, Mr Chikelue Iloenyosi.

Iloenyosi, became a sole candidate after an alleged disqualification of Mr Emeka Okeke, following the outcome of the former's petition. Chairman of the electoral committee,  Rev. Fr. Obinna Dike, had before commencement of the poll stated that Iloenyosi was the sole Chairmanship candidate without backing it up with a reason.

Reading outcome of the poll, Fr Dike said that no Chairman emerge because nineteen out of twenty delegates voted against the sole candidate making him loose simple majority in the open secret ballot monitored by NFF representative, Barr. Joshua Onoja and other stakeholders.

However, Mr Victor Aniekwena, emerged as the Vice Chairman of the Board, while some of other elected members were Mr Oliver Ndigwe and Ralph Chigozie George representing Anambra Central; Cordelia Alanna representing Anambra North, among others.

According to him, a bye election would soon be held to fill the remaining vacant positions.

Earlier on Thursday, ANSFA Local Football Council elected some Board executives across twenty one local government areas.

Speaking on behalf of other elected officers, the ANSFA new Vice Chairman, Mr Victor Aniekwena, extended an olive branch to their opponents, as according to him, there were no victor and no vanquished.

“We are here to serve you. There were no winner nor vanquished. I will put the youths where they belong in Football in Anambra state. We will also put the retirees in their rightful positions. We will do our best to return Anambra football in its glorious days,” he maintained.
