By Okechukwu Onuegbu

An international renowned physician and House of Representatives aspirant for Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha Federal Constituency, Prince Emeka Eze, Thursday, stormed Awka, the capital of Anambra State as the state former Governor, Mr Peter Obi informed traditional rulers and community leaders of his intention to become the next President of Nigeria.

The event held at Government house was also graced by the Senator representing Anambra Central, Uche Ekwunife; House of Representatives member for Awka North and Awka South constituency, Hon. Chinedu Onwuaso; Prof. Stella Okunna, first female Professor of Mass Communication in Africa, among others.

At the event, Obi, the 2019 Vice Presidential candidate of People's Democratic Party (PDP), solicited for royal blessings of all the Traditional rulers and President Generals in Anambra State in order to lead Nigeria to the Promise Land as a President.

Obi added that "I will manage Nigeria resources effectively and efficiently. I will focus on the critical area of our economy for development. They are education, health and pulling people out of poverty. We have already set an example as a governor of Anambra State. Nigeria needs people with capacity, confidence and willingness to manage her resources efficiently.

"We want to move Nigeria from consumption to production so that we can build a better future for our country. I want to lead a Nigeria where people from Sokoto, Ibadan, Onitsha and others will be secured, and celebrate Nigeria. I am not aspiring for a political position. But for an opportunity to serve the people of Nigeria. I want you to use your contacts and networks to gather support for me."

Reacting to Obi's declaration, Prince Dr Eze (also known as Eze n'Ukpo), described it as a welcome development, noting that with the former governor as President, Nigeria would move forward.

Eze, who is hoping to be selected by Dunukofia/ Njikoka/ Anaocha Federal Constituency for the same 2023 poll, said "This is a step in right direction. We have been waiting patiently for him to do. We thank God he finally did it. We will surely give him our maximum support. Nigerians need Obi to bounce back. Our economy is bad. He is the only one with medas touch to give us a breath of fresh air again. He did it as a governor. He will do more than that."

The Traditional Rulers from Anambra North led by Igwe Ben Emeka, and his counterparts from Anambra Central, Igwe Peter Anugwu and South, Igwe Shedrack Moguluwa at the consultative meeting chaired by the Deputy Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Sunday Okafor (who stood in for the Chairman, Obi Alfred Achebe) assured their support to Obi's presidential project, while the Traditional ruler of Enugwu-Aguleri, Eze Chukwuemeka Eri, gave it a royal blessings on their behalf with Offor (Africa's symbol of authority).

Chief Titus Akpudo, the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Union (ASATU) and his colleagues; President Generals from 181 recognised communities in Anambra State equally blessed Obi.
