The former first lady of Anambra State, Chief Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, Wednesday, dismissed allegations making round that she knew about the burnt state revenue house.
Some reports on social media allegedly from one Nnamdi Ikeli had suggested that the wife of the former governor took some cash from the state internal revenue service and turned around to set it on fire as a cover.
But Mrs Obiano, who is a top Senatorial aspirant of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra North Senatorial District, described the allegations as fallacy, ill-advised and malicious.
Speaking through Mr Uchenna Ezeadigwe, the Head of Media Directorate of Osodieme Media Volunteers, Ebelechukwu urged people to disregard the report and keep supporting her aspiration to represent Anambra North.
The statement read in part thus, "The attention of Osodieme Media Volunteers has been drawn to the fallacy, ill-advised and malicious reports being circulated on social media as allegedly from one Nnamdi Ikeli. The report no doubt, was aimed at tarnishing the image of the former first lady of Anambra state, Chief Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano."
"Although we wouldn't like to delve into the matter as to find out if it was actually from Mr Ikeli or not, we wish to state categorically that the report is political, false, baseless and a negative propaganda aimed at diminishing the image of mother Theresa of our time who is the leading aspirant for Anambra North Senatorial District."
"Again, it is a well known fact that Mrs Obiano was never an elected officer throughout the eight year term her husband was governor. So, how could she had ordered, solicited or collected any amount of money from any Government institution (s) or appointee (s) for whatever purposes?"
"Therefore, we are pleading with all well meaning Aguleri people, Anambra North and Ndi Anambra generally to disregard the rumour and maintain the trust, love and respect for Dr Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano. Osodieme, being the wife of our capacity former governor, Chief Sir Mmaduaburochukwu Obiano knowing fully well of her respect and prestige for her peope cannot in anyway indulge in criminality or unconstitutional acts. To this end, we are pleading with you all to support Osodieme to get the APGA ticket for Anambra North Senatorial zone come 2023 poll."
