The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Friday, said they were poised to conduct elections across the 21 Council Areas, 326 wards and polling units where there are registered voters in Anambra State.

The INEC Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Anambra State, Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu, who disclosed this in a press conference in Awka, noted that they had deployed both sensitive and non-sensitive materials with relevant security for the Saturday 25, 2023 general elections.

According to her, the State is secured for their staff, electoral materials, voters and entire populace, for the Presidential, National Assembly and State House of Assembly poll holding on February 25 and  March 11 respectively.

"Election will hold everywhere except Polling Units (PUs) where there are zero registrants. The security is intact. We have deployed all the sensitive and non-sensitive materials to all PUs. We don't want to disfranchise anyone. We are appealing to everyone who have voters cards to come out and cast their votes.

"Don't be afraid. You are secured. Don't sit at home and wait for anyone to win. Come out and vote for the candidate you wish to win. The person will surely win if you vote. Do not foment trouble. It is going to be credible, free and fair. The new electoral act is specific with various provisions. If you run foul of the Act, you will be prosecuted," he noted.
