The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra
State Command has sought partnership of the state council of Nigeria Union of
Journalists (NUJ) for effective traffic management and control.
The state Sector Commander, FRSC, Mr Andrew
Ayodele Kumapayi, who stated this while interacting with some executive members
of NUJ, Anambra State Council in his office, said the media were force to
reckon with in traffic control, management and public sensitisation.
According to him, the command prefers having
the media as Special Marshals as they would help to sanitise the road of
reckless driving, accidents and traffic congestion.
He said the command has zero tolerance to
extortions, briber or corruption, urging the media to help expose any of their
staff or public caught in the act while they were performing their function.
Kumapayi, who said that road accident has
reduced drastically since he assumed office, assured that the command would not

of communication.

within the state are complying. We are sending messages to them, we are
increasing our media sensitization. We can’t do this alone without you, the
media. NUJ Anambra state is one of the best in the country,” he said.
Continuing, the Sector Commander said “We
want your members who can sacrifice their time as to join us as Special
Marshals. If they see the areas we are not doing well, they should correct
them. We have zero tolerance to bribery and extortions. We want to improve in
our performance,” he maintained, adding that his command was always available
to join the NUJ on its programmes and meetings.
