Two kids, Master Musapha Abdulaziz, aged 2 and Master Waheed Yusuf, aged 3, who were allegedly abducted from Gombe state have been rescued and reunited to their families by the Anambra State Police Command.
The victims, Blueprint learnt, were reportedly trafficked to Anambra state by a lady of about 32-year-old, who claimed to be Miss Awahu Umar and Miss Blessing Joe at two different occasions. The suspect also claimed to hail from Bauchi and Gombe state at different time
Other suspects were Mrs Faith Okpe, from Cross Rivers State and Mrs Ngozi Cynthia Obi of Anambra state.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Muhammed, while parading the suspects at the Command's headquarters in Amawbia, said the suspects were arrested and paraded on October 27 during which one of them lied that the ‘stolen’ children were hers.
“When we paraded the suspects, one of them claimed ownership of one of them. She said that one of the babies were born by her sister who has passed on. Following the arrest, we issued a notice to the public so that the owners can come and claim them.
“On October 29, police from Gombe came with two families to report that the children belonged to them. When we took the parents to the motherless babies home where we kept them and they recognised their parents and hugged them,” he noted, adding that the suspects would be handed over to the Gombe police command for further investigation and prosecution.
They were allegedly billed to be sold at N750,000 each.
However, the three suspects, Blessing, Ngpzi and Faith, could not explain their level of involvement in the act as they keep pointing accusing fingers on each.
The parents of the victims, Mr Abdulaziz Sulaiman and Ahmed Musa, explained that their children got missing around 5pm on October 20, 2019 during which they reported to Gombe State Police command.
“On October 27, 2019, I saw the picture of my son on Facebook where he was displayed by the police. I reported at Gombe State police command and they communicated the Anambra state command. That is how we located them here in Anambra,” Sulaiman said.
