COVID-19: FG urges to fund pharmaceutical industries to provide cure

As the war to contain COVID-19 continues, the Traditional Ruler of Orsumoghu, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra state, Igwe Elochukwu Mbanefo, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to support local pharmaceutical industries on research and growth.

Mbanefo, who gave the advice during installation of cabinet chiefs of the community y, posited that the industry was capable of producing drugs for cure of coronavirus and other diseases if adequately funded by the federal government.

“When there is a problem that involves human lives, you don’t mind where the solution comes from. What is happening in the world has never happened before; COVID-19 is an emergency and it needs to be taken care of urgently to save lives,” the monarch said.

He, however, commended the President for ordering Madagascar’s COVID-19 organic drugs, which had been reportedly subjected to various necessary clinical test before administration in the country, describing it as a welcome development.

On the cabinet  conferment ceremony, the traditional ruler said it was aimed at installing members of his cabinet, who would assist in ensuring peace, unity and development of the town.

Earlier, the President-General (P-G) of the community, Chief Chika Muomaife, explained that 35 persons including five zonal heads and 27 kindred heads were conferred with various traditional titles with a view to help them join in settling disputes and taking decisions for the progress of the town.

In an interview, one of the newly installed cabinet Chief, Chief Emeka Okoye, crowned Ikenga (Strength) of Orsumoghu, assured that they would serve the community in unity and love for peace and progress.
