Anambra State governor's wife, Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, has called on wives of twenty –one Transition Committee Chairmen of the Local Government Areas to provide succor to the needy within their domain.
Mrs Obiano, who disclosed this in Awka while addressing a meeting of the wives of the council bosses, averred that the third tiers of government were much closer to the grassroots and should support the state government in cushioning the economic difficulties caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
She said the meeting was part of advocacy to ensure that the plight of women especially those residence in rural areas were taken care of, adding that the rural people should be mobilised to obey government COVID-19 precautionary measures and other medical experts directives to prevent the spread of the disease in communities .
Earlier, Mrs Ndidi Mezue, the Anambra Commissioner for Social Welfare Children and Women Affairs, exalted Obiano for her responsive actions towards the needy mores now the era of COVID-19.
Responding on behalf of others, the wife of Nnewi North Transition Committee, Mrs Chinelo Orizu, reassured the governor's wife that they would reach out more than they had done since the COVID-19 pandemic.
