Skills acquisition paramount for youth, national development, NOA

 

    Skill acquisition has been described as paramount for youths and nations development anywhere in the world.


  The State Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA),Anambra State Directorate, Awka,Barrister Charles Nwoji ,made the assertion while playing  host to members of a non- political organization known as ," Mmaigbo Empowerment Foundation," who paid him a courtesy call in his office in Awka.


    The NOA boss,who said that he was elated with the visit because the mandates of the group were in tandem with that of NOA's working  schedules,praised the leadership of  the foundation for not only promoting Igbo language and culture ,but also economic aspects of the Igbo nation.


    He noted that the foundation is not only proffering the challenges facing Ndigbo as a people,but also  providing solutions to them through their entrepreneurial training of the Igbo youths with the sole aim of desuading them from  drug abuse and other terrific experiences in the society.


   He stated that the group might have drawn its inspiration from the entrepreneurial spirits of Ndigbo known as 'Igba boyi' and advised them to work towards making their vision and mission known to government  through partnership so that our people will benefit more from their activities.

  

   To him,the Director  Planning and Strategy of the foundation, Mr.Nganwuchu Chika,said that the foundation had through its fourteen days training workshop re- oriented the youths both in the areas of spiritual and physical aspects of human lives,promising that the foundation is committed to empowering the trainees by providing them with working equipments on 25th of this month.


   He equally said that the foundation is also working round the  clock to ascertain how much it  could cost them to secure shops for the beneficiaries, adding that they are re-circling the trainees so that they would in turn train others with a view to providing jobs to the teeming unemployed youths in the Igbo extraction.


   He emphasised that the scope of the people the foundation wants to empower were every Igbo speaking youth to make them become self reliant.


    In  their separate speeches,the Director of Language and Communication of the group  Mr. Nkechi Okoye and the Secretary,Mr Kenneth Umeh ,affirmed that the beauty of the Igbo nation was that they are very hard working and industrious anywhere they found themselves.


  They pointed out that the programmes thrust of the foundation were anchored on what they described as development communication through the  grassroots sensitization programmes of the group and total war against the  get rich quick  syndrome spirit currently bedeviling the Igbo youths and others elsewhere in the country today.
