President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday, upgraded Onitsha General Hospital to a federal medical centre.
The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, who disclosed this while commissioning the project at Onitsha, assured that more staff and doctors would be employed to man and uplift the medical centre.
Ehanire, represented by Minister of State for Health, Hon. Ekumankama Joseph Nkama, stressed that the federal government would equally post fresh Doctors and other medical personnel for internship and horsemanship.
He charged the staff of the general hospital to brace up for the challenges ahead because there would be more expectations from the public.
Earlier in an address, governor Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, described the upgrade as a parting gift from Buhari's administration, assuring that the edifice would be utilised.
