By Okechukwu Onuegbu

About three boys were reportedly gunned down, on Friday,  at Awka, the Anambra State capital, following a suspected cult battle.

An eyewitness claimed that the attack which took place at about 11am at Ukwuoji bus stop along Zik's avenue, left many business men and women at Eke Awka, around the venue and passersby to scamper for safety.

The source said "When we heard the gunshots, we took to our heals. Many abandoned their businesses and wares to Safety. It was a horrific experience. We don't wish to have it again."

The source recounted that the hoodlums numbering about five drive-in in a tinted glass car, shot down their victims and thereafter shot sporadically on air thereby forcing people around to scamper for safety, as they drove away.

But when contacted, the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, denied knowledge of number of people killed during the attack because "No information like that before me."

"Police operatives have intensify patrols within Awka following the sound of a suspected gunshot at Ukwuoji bus stop in Awka. Information gather at the scene from the eyewitnesses shows it a cult related," he added.
