Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, Monday, instituted a panel of inquiry into the controversy  trailing the highest scorer in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (JAMB-UTME).

The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede,  had at the 2023 Policy meeting for tertiary institutions, held at Abuja, disclosed that Miss Mmesoma Ejikeme who had been on the news on social media as highest scorer of JAMB actually scored 249 but manipulated it to 362.

The governor, in a statement from the office of Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, explained that Anambra State saw the development as embarrassing having come at a time Soludo's led administration is repositioning education.

According to Soludo, Anambra State government has continued to celebrate Miss Nkechinyere Umeh, who was declared the highest by JAMB, having scored a cumulative mark of 360, while security agents are investigating the allegation of falsification of result levelled against Ejikeme.

Meanwhile, Dr Innocent Chukwuma, the founder of Innoson Motors, who previously pronounced ₦3 million scholarships for Ejikeme, disclosed that they had instituted independent investigation to find out what actually transpired.

Chukwuma, in a message sent in by his media aide, Mr Cornel Osigwe, said "We're doing our independent investigation on the issue of manipulation, if we find that the girl in question willfully manipulated her result, we shall withdraw the scholarship, but if we observe she is innocent of the accusation, then the scholarship stands, whether she is the best or not."
