The Anambra State Commissioner for Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has called on the society for more support towards ameliorating the plights of vulnerable sickle cell children.

CP Aderemi made the call in his office when a delegation from the Sickle Cell Orphanage and Underprivileged Home Agulu, paid him a courtesy visit to seek his assistance in the fight against sickle cell disorder.

The CP who warmly received the children and their coordinator, Mrs Aisha Edward Maduagwu, said that the police owe humanity the duty to provide comfort and solace towards underprivileged and vulnerable persons.

“Society owes a duty of care to the underprivileged, and if that responsibility is abdicated, then society would have failed.”

CP Aderemi Adeoye also  prayed for persons living with sickle cell disorder  to remain positive and steadfast amidst their health challenges.

“Keep happy with yourselves because you are God's creation, your destiny is before you and yours to fullfil, the situation you face would not cut of your expectations, you would rise and triumph over it, CP Aderemi prayed.”

The Commissioner of police who commended the efforts of the National Coordinator of the Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder, and her team, for dedicating their lives for the good of others, also reminded that her reward would come in this life and hereafter.

“When persons with this disorder have a crisis, it takes only an angelic disposition to cope and take care of the sufferers, so you devoting your life to care for this underprivileged ones, your reward does not only start from heaven but starts here.”

In her speech, Mrs Aisha Edward Maduagwu, said she was in the police state command to seek a working synergy on sickle cell eradication. She expressed her profound gratitude for the warm reception accorded to her, and praised the officers and men of Anambra State command for the good work they are doing in securing lives and properties.

“I sincerely appreciate CP Aderemi Adeoye for affording us the opportunity to be here today, I commend also the officers and men of the command for securing Anambra State from criminal elements. We are enjoying peace and prosperity because of their commitments to security.”

“In truth, I am marveled by the sound intellectual capacity of the CP, and how he was able to analyze the health complications of sickle cell disease like a medical professional, showing rare intelligence and willingness to identify to us.”

“Our organization, Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder (APLSCD) is desirous to sensitize every policeman and woman on sickle cell awareness and genotype education,” Mrs Aisha opined.

Recall that APLSCD is on the forefront of genotype education across security formations in Anambra State and Southeast, and had previously visited the State Command of the Department of State Service (DSS).

Sickle cell disorder has no place in Anambra State, and our goal is to take this gospel of a free sickle cell society to every man and woman in the State, even to those living in the peripheries of human habitation.
