A philanthropist and Labour Party (LP) stalwart in Anambra State, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, Saturday, empowered not less than 300 widows and other vulnerable in the State amidst his 54th birthday celebration.
Ozigbo, a governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State 2021 gubernatorial poll, while distributing 5kg bags of rice, fiscal cash and other food stuff to the beneficiaries, explained that the event was geared towards ameliorating the lives of others.
According to him, the beneficiaries drawn from 21 Council Areas, were brought in to celebrate with him, while praying for the good of Anambra and Nigeria generally amidst the scorching effect of economic crunch affecting everyone in the country.
Also speaking, the Chairman, VCO Foundation, Mr Izuchukwu Oraelosi, described the birthday cum empowerment programme as one of the ways Ozigbo had been reaching out to the poorest in society.
"VCO was established 25 years ago. The founder, Ozigbo uses his annual birthday event to reach out to the populace in diverse ways. The foundation have been uplifting the masses especially the indigent citizens and other vulnerable. We empower the youth, women and others as well on skills, businesses and career choices, and give scholarships to deserving citizens," he stated.
Earlier, the Chairman of Labour Party in Anambra State, Chief Ugochukwu Emeh described Ozigbo as a smart young man, disciplined, diligent, hardworking and supporter of the party in Anambra State.
Highpoint of the occasion was when the women prayed for the philanthropist, Anambra State and Nigeria, assuring that they would support his aspirations as it would enable them to enjoy more from him.
