Anambra Nursing mothers, fathers celebrate Soludo's free healthcare services, as Solution Marshalls inspect developmental projects

Nursing mothers and fathers in Anambra State have celebrated Governor Chukwuma Soludo's innovation in the healthcare which included refurbishing of primary healthcare centres and general hospitals across the State.


Others are free healthcare services such as prenatal, antenatal and postnatal care, including delivery, which the governor has made free for both the indigenes and non-indigenes of Anambra State across the 21 Council Areas and 179 communities.

They disclosed this while receiving journalists and Solution Marshalls, a support group comprising commercial transporters in Anambra State, who were on inspection tour of various developmental projects sited by the governor at Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) and Ekwulọbịa in Aguata LGA.

Solution Marshalls led by renowned activist, Comrade Osita Obi had embarked on the inspection to ascertain how and where the taxes they pay to the State government were been utilised for the overall good of the State.

The Senior Medical Officer, Okpoko General Hospital, Dr Kenechi Nnaji, had during the visit revealed that they offer free medical care of different categories to expectant mothers, nursing mothers and others.


According to Nnaji, Okpoko General Hospital has accident and emergency ward, labour, theatre, dentist, ward, dentals and other wards but they offer free medical services to women and children.


"You know that most residents here are indigents. So governor Soludo made it possible for everyone, including women and children to be receiving free medical services. Women do free delivery, including cesarean, routine drugs, antenatal, delivery mats, pads and others. We work 24 hours. Our 8 doctors  are ready to attend to different medical needs of patients. Unfortunately, the hospital is currently underutilised because we just started," she noted. 


The hospital which was built and commissioned by Governor Soludo on 18th March 2024 currently receives about 120 patients every month as against their capacities to treat and offer medical supports and services to over 100 daily. 


A pregnant mother, Mrs Nkechi Ugwoke, who spoke to Factcheckng.com at Okpoko, confirmed this adding that the staff of the hospital were hardworking and ever ready to attend to people medical needs while adhering to governor's free medical proclamation.


At Ekwulobia General Hospital counterpart, the senior Medical Officer, Dr. Madubuike Chinelo, while confirming implementation of Governor Soludo’s free medical care, urged the citizenry never to relent to come whenever they feel unwell.


 A nursing mother who was spotted at Ekwulọbịa General hospital, Mrs Ngozi Eze, said she was doubting until she decided to enroll during her antenatal care and finally delivered without paying a dime.


A keke operator, Mr Samson Ùgwù described the governor's policy in health sector and infrastructure development as commendable, saying that it was a confirmation that the taxes they are paying were being utilised for the development of the State. 


"I don't go to mechanics again because the networks of roads at Okpoko has turned here into a new heaven. We now make more money too. Our wives and children are enjoying his good medical policies too. This is wonderful. We, the Keke riders we support the governor to be reelected in 2025 for overall good of the masses. He is the people governor," he stated. 


The Coordinator, Solution marshalls (Transport Sector),  Comrade Osita Obi also commended the Governor, whom he described as a governor with human face and a good listener to the cries of people, adding that his administration helped to chase away touts and illegal revenue collectors, introduced Keke riders into health insurance scheme thereby saving their lives from dangers, cultists and other hoodlums. 


Obi, who said the support group, comprising commercial tricycle riders, drivers of trucks and other kinds of vehicles in Anambra State, had inspected the pace of works at Amansea-Ebenebe-Ugbenu-Ugbene-Awba Ofemili, including Amansea-Awa-Ufuma road, Awka main town and streets and government house, said he was happy that they were up to standard, adding that the government was utilising people taxes for development of the State.


 He also commended him for turning Okpoko around for good which he described as a slum when he was residing their with his mother many years back, noting that the streets light, water and others the governor brought back to alive would speak for him in the 2025 gubernatorial poll.


 According to him, Solution Marshalls as an independent and unbiased entity have certified the governor as the most feat to continue as Anambra State governor and would mobilise other transporters, their family and friends to give him 21 over 21 in 2025 poll.
