Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo
targets no fewer than 500 oxygen cylinders to make health services functionally
and regularly available, affordable, accessible so as to reduce untimely
deaths.
Making this known on the occasion of the 2024 World
Oxygen Day with the theme, “Breathe Better, Walk Together, the Managing
Director/Chief Executive of Anambra State Oxygen Production Plants, Nwamaka Arinze
said the Agency would soon take delivery of additional 300 oxygen cylinders to
bring the total in its custody to 500.
According to her, the governor’s disruptive and
intentional mandate on health vision to ANSOPP is that no one should die on
account of lack poor absence of oxygen.
She noted that
the Agency is leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the governor’s
expectation of meeting the vision 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
aimed at Under-5 Infant Mortality rate to 25 per 1000 live births.
Arinze observed that this year’s event high-pointed
with road show placed emphasis on the need for non-reusability of oxygen
facemasks, distilling of water (H20) and ability to analyze the oxygen bars of
green(normal), yellow (finishing) and red (danger zone).
The MD/CEO of ANSOPP pointed out that the State gives
the purest oxygen round the clock, and called on other states and private
sector healthcare providers to look up the state for functional healthcare
services.
