A front-line governorship aspirant of All Progressive Congress (APC), Sir Paul Chukwuma has promised to end insecurity, create jobs and improve food productivity in Anambra State if he wins the 2025 poll.
Chukwuma, a philanthropist and entrepreneur of repute, explained that his administration would leverage on community intelligence gathering, enforcement of extant laws and improve relationships with relevant stakeholders for speedy crimes detection, prevention and extermination.
The APC stalwart at a media parley with journalists in his country-home, Umueri, Anambra East Local Government Area (LGA), on Saturday, maintained that his administration would empower the local vigilante in accordance with their law, police and other law enforcement agents to work harmoniously for restoration of peace and order.
He regretted that Anambra State is currently engulfed in insecurity, especially kidnapping and killings, which according to him, was equally scaring away local and foreign investors amidst heavy taxation and high cost of living.
"I will use instrumentality of the law to look inward and bring insecurity to an end in Anambra State. We have vigilante law. To what extent have we implemented that law? I will work with all the stakeholders and functionaries recognised by the State to ensure that community intelligence system works.
"My administration will adopt a holistic approach in crimes fighting. We will create jobs to curb unemployment and youth restiveness. We must be firm, just and ensure equitable distribution of resources. We must shun evidence of nepotism. We will ensure food security, implement minimum wage that is acceptable. We will make good policies to encourage ease of doing business," he added.
He also promised to embark on proper mapping of houses, tricycle operators and drivers not for revenue generation but for gathering of relevant data that could assist in security and development of Anambra State.
"People at grassroots will no longer be taken for granted. We need to know how many exit points we have in Anambra State and what is happening there every time. Anambra State needs someone that is available. We need someone with mental capacity to solve the problems confronting the State. I have the mental capacity to solve it. That is why I am running for the governor of Anambra State," he added.
He assured that the State would experience turnaround in all facets of the economy, including education, teachers and workers welfare, serene atmosphere and environment for effective teaching and learning.
"It is our hope that by the grace of God, we will takeover the leadership politically and bring back Anambra State back to the people. I am not happy that we are currently in a terrible economic quagmire in Anambra. We have a political party in Anambra that cannot help anyone beyond the position of the governor.
"Anambra needs a leader and a political party that will not only connect the State to the centre but also lead the State to engage with other members of the federation. We must stop blackmailing APC in Anambra only to rush to Abuja to hopnop with them.
"Our agenda is tripod. Human capital development, security and infrastructure. I have many investments in Anambra. As an investor, who is still investing in Anambra State, l intend to change the political and economic status of Anambra State," he further disclosed.
