The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) committee of the Anambra State Anticorruption Strategies (ANSACS) has expressed willingness and renewed efforts to eliminate corruption in Anambra State.

The Chairman, ANSACS M&E Committee Mr Arthur Iweanya disclosed this at one day meeting geared towards a review of ANSACS 2019-2023 Action Plan organised by the Rule of Law and Anti-corruption (RoLAC II) programme, funded by the European Union and implemented by International IDEA.

According to Iweanya, the committee was committed to eliminate corruption in Anambra State, having renewed their efforts and energy, with inspiration to double efforts towards efficiency monitoring and evaluation of public projects and programmes for effective service delivery.

He argued that "Our responsibilities have been increased. We will not relent in our efforts because if don't kill corruption, corruption will kill you. I can assure you that we will not be found wanting. ANSACS performed well in implementation of 2019-2023 programme. We promise to do more in the next five years (2024-2028).

Also speaking, the Consultant, ANSACS RoLAC II programme, Dr Ada Chidi-Igbokwe, stressed that to eliminate corruption requires concerted efforts, education and public enlightenment campaigns using a change of strategy since some of existing ones have been implemented.

"We value the works of M&E committee to get it right in the next five years. You have done a wonderful job in the last five years, using the ANSACS 2019-2023 plans which have now expired. You are expected to review this; include and adopt new plans," she noted.

Earlier speaking, the State Coordinator, RoLAC II programme, Mrs Josephine Onah urged the committee to increase tempo in their activities within the next five years so as to realise the objectives of the programme.

Onah, who said the second phase of RoLAC programme supports actions that would bring reforms, enhance performance and efficiency with a commitment to improve the rule of law and order.

"We need your supports to realise objectives of this programme. This includes enhancement of performances in administration of criminal justice delivery and Anti-corruption using the new strategies developed by the State. We want you to review the strategy for efficiency monitoring and evaluation," she added.
