A frontline governorship aspirant of All Progressive Congress, APC, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji has described governor Chukwuma Soludo as a failure particularly in the area of security of lives and property of citizens.
Umeoji, who asked the governor to step aside for a what what he described as a more focused, organized and articulate person to come on board to rescue the state, wondered why Soludo has failed 'abysmally'.
Addressing journalists and All Progressives Congress(APC) executives at the Anambra State Secretariat of the party in Awka on Thursday, the former member of the House of Representatives for Aguata Federal Constituency also promised to run an all inclusive administration when he wins the forthcoming November 8, 2025 polls.
He pointed out that governorship position is like an elephant that has enough resources to operate it.
When taken up on the recent security summit where a new anticrime outfit, Agunechemba(alias Udo Gachi) was unveiled to tackle budgeoning insecurity in the state, Umeoji described the effort as mere slap on the wrist.
That the governor was merely grandstanding with the move because election is around the corner, after which he would jettison the initiative.
Umeoji noted that under his watch as the governor, party chairmen at the Wards would become automatic Councillors while the party chairmen at Councils would become chairmen of their respective Council areas.
Umeoji, aka "Oba Aguata" however tasked the party leadership to ensure that the ticket is given to a committed party person and not person who wants to do business transactions with the APC mandate.
The former Aguata LGA boss and also an ex National Assembly member reminded the party hierarchy of the seriousness of governorship election noting that the party can not afford to toy with her ticket.
"The APC leadership need to know the purpose of being in a party, primary election is not an end in itself, the party must be united behinds a winner to achieve the purpose and that is why we must be very careful about who fly the party's flag on November 8, 2025.
"There is need to check the results of APGA, PDP and APC in the last governorship election so as to know the strength of each participating political parties. We must also field a candidate who has the capacity to split the votes of the ruling party," he said.
Oba Aguata narrated his experience and the sacrifice he has made for the party to ensure sustenance and survival of APC in the state and at the national level.
On what his major priority would be if he makes it to Awka Government House, the APC guber hopeful said he would give security issue a serious attention as the present arrangement is not working.
