In preparation for power wrestling with the incumbent first citizen of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Governor Ogbonna Nwifuru of All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2027, the South East Regional Officers of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), led by Rev. Austin Ehimere, alongside the Organizing Committee Chairman of the proposed Stakeholders Summit of the party, Mr. Chinedu Romanus Eze (Yagazie), at the weekend joined forces with the leadership of the party in the state and launched what they tagged Statewide Membership drive.
The event held in one of the hotels in the State was designed, according to Rev. Ehimwre, to plant the party's name and manifesto in every lip across Ebonyi state, boasting that they are gearing up to take over power from the man at the helm of affairs in the Sall State.
Welcoming the party's executives from the 13 Local Government Areas, Wards Executives and stakeholders in Ebonyi State, the Regional leader of APGA said he sincerely welcomed all members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA that gathered to witness one of the several moves by heir dealing party to form the next government in Ebonyi State.
"The party is, indeed, gearing up to take over power in Ebonyi State come 2027.Our recent calculator indicates that what we are doing here today and other arrangements on the ground to launch a statewide membership drive and again, strengthen the party's presence in Ebonyi State.
"The move today is a strategic step toward unseating the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC in the 2027 gubernatorial election, which we narrowly missed in 2023. This time around, APGA has vowed to sack the APC and take over the leadership of the State, indicating a strong determination to win the forthcoming gubernatorial election". The cleric/ politician stated.
Applauding the national leader of APGA who doubles as Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for having made not only APGA but South East by extension proud, the Regional leader of APGA said they are making frantic moves even as he hinted at undisclosed strategies by the party to make APGA achieve her desired objective, come 2027.
"This is good news for the party's loyalists to show that our pronouncement is real and must surely come to pass. There are numbers of several undisclosed strategies that will potentially lead to the APGA's chances of winning elections in Ebonyi State.
"While the ruling party in the State is making a loss to maintain its hold in Ebonyi State, recent happenings with APGA's efforts to mobilize support and expand its membership base, have sent signals to the sitting party of its inability to solve the re-occurring security situation that has posed a significant challenge to the ruling party.
"Tackling security challenges in Ebonyi and, indeed, in the whole South East has become a priority. To APGA as a party has required a mortified approach that addresses the root causes of insecurity and involves various stakeholders.
What Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo is currently doing in Anambra State will give an insight into what APGA is planning in the entire Southeast as some measures and strategies will be applied.
Highlighting the enticement that would tump up APGA in the coming Guber election, it was revealed that APGA will establish community policing and build trust between security agencies and local communities while intelligence gathering shall be shared among security agencies, aimed at preventing and responding to security threats.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Ebonyi State chapter Chairman of APGA, Hon. Chukwudi Nwankwo thanked the members of the Party in the state for remaining resolute since after the last election, beating his chest that their party is even waxing stronger than ever, noting that despite the alleged fraud in the last election in the state, APGA won one seat in the State Assembly and won another seat at the House of Representatives.
He, however, assured their visitors of more dedication and loyalty to every card carried by members of the All Progressive Grand Alliance APGA Ebonyi State chapter.
