Unidentified gunmen have reportedly killed and dumped a corpse of a retired public servant, Ozor Augustine Chido at his piggery farm in Nimo, Njikoka LGA, Anambra State .
Chido was kidnapped on 19th June, 2025 only for his lifeless body to be recovered by the police on June 23 behind his farm.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Anambra State Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the incident, explained that investigation was on to unravel circumstances behind the abduction and arrest those behind the act, noting that the corpse had been deposited in a morgue.
" The Operatives were still actively involved to rescue the victim but unfortunately, his lifeless body was discovered on 23rd June, 2025, near his farm in Nimo.The Command sympathizes with the victim's family and the community and assures that it shall leave no stone unturned in unmasking the suspects behind the dastardly act," he added.
He, however, confirmed that on Friday, another group of gunmen abducted a man returning from taken his children to school at Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area (LGA), Anambra State.
A trending video had shown that the incident occured around 6 to 7am in the morning as the hoodlums drove in a stainless coloured Highlander, shot sporadically on air to scare the residents away as they drove away with the victim.
“The three armed men operating in a stainless colored Highlander without a plate number shot indiscriminately and abducted the victim. The command has assured that its operatives shall leave no stone unturned in making sure that the victim is rescued alive,” Ikenga stated.
