The Anambra State government Security outfit, Agunaechemba, Sunday, demolished a Guest House and Bar at Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area (LGA) following alleged discovery of a gun and revelation that the facility was used for illicitly drugs peddling and prostitution.
Agunaechemba bursted the place in a raid on Saturday during which they arrested the manager, Mr. Paul Chibuike, the Supervisor, Mr Thaddeus Tsakuku, bar attendant, about 20 ladies and 18 men suspected to be prostitutes and their patrons.
They also reportedly recovered some hard and illicit drugs including Tramadol, a brand of Indian hemp known as Cana, 'Laughing Gas' Rohypnol and a locally made single barrel short-gun in the facility.
One of the suspects and Manager of the place, Mr. Paul Chibuike, confessed in a trending video that the confiscated drugs were usually sold to members of the public, who came to patronise the lodge but the gun was actually left by an unnamed guest.
He added that most of the suspected prostitutes were students from different institutions and none was forced into prostitutions but wilfully lodge with their patrons mostly on weekends.
Also speaking, another suspect and Supervisor of the facility, Mr. Thaddeus Tsakuku, claimed that the Guest House accept only girls and their patrons for a short-time purpose while one of the rooms was converted as a warehouse for drugs before selling them.
The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Community Security, Mr. Ken Emeakayi, who supervised the demolition, explained that activities going on in the building runs foul of the Anambra State Homeland security law, and as such, the land would be forfeited to the state government.
He therefore, warned landlords and land owners to always inspect their structures to know what they are being used for and what the tenants do otherwise they could be losed.
