FCET Umunze graduates 1,860 students, offers N1m to the Best graduating student

The Federal College of Education (Technical), Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area, Anambra State, yesterday, held her 30th convocation ceremony with Miss Chisom Theodora Okolie emerging as the best graduating student with a gift of N1, 000,000.

Chisom, who graduated with a distinction, garnered 4.92 CGPA from the Department of Agricultural Education to emerge as the number one out of 1,860 students that finished their National Certificate on Education (NCE) and Postgraduate Diploma Education (PDE) programmes for 2024/2025 session.

Speaking at the occasion, the Provost, FCE(T), Umunze, Professor Theresa Okoli, commended the graduands for proving their worthiness in character and learning, and urged them to remain good ambassadors of the institution wherever they found themselves.

Okoli, while commending the host community for being hospitable and Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka for sustaining their partnership in offering degree programmes, acknowledged the federal government efforts to uplift the institution to a degree awarding technical university of education.

According to her, the College was among the pioneering institutions that started the Degree program under the Dual Mandate platform in the 2025/2026 academics session.

Also speaking, the Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, represented by the Director Colleges of Education, Dr Uche Ubah, explained that the federal government was committed towards revitalising the education sector so as to give the best to the future of tomorrow.

Earlier speaking, the Regent of Umunze, Chief Arinze Onwuzuruike Gabriel reassured the institution of their support as host community in making the environment accommodating and friendly to the students, lecturers and visitors.

The joint convocation ceremony also witnessed prizes and conferments of Fellowship to some deserving personalities across Nigeria, including Hon. Chinwe Nnabuife, the member Representing Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency, Chief Arinze Onwuzurike Gabriel, Hon.S. N. Azubuike, who is Chairman of Orumba-South LGA.
