Prof Anasi set to deliver UNIZIK's 122nd Inaugural Lecture

All is now set for the 122nd Inaugural Lecture of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, to be delivered by the current University Librarian, Professor Stella Ngozi Ifeoma.


UNIZIK Inaugural Lecture, like in every other institution, is a significant event that showcases the academic prowess and contributions of its professors through research, teaching and community service.


Prof Anasi, a Professor of Library, Archival, and Information Science, will deliver the 122nd lecture entitled, "The Neglected Gold mine: Repositioning Nigerian Libraries At A Critical Crossroads.  


The academic event scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at the Zephaniah Mmadubuko Auditorium (New Faculty of Social Sciences Auditorium), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, will serve as a significant academic milestone, following recent efforts to enhance research and academic excellence in the institution.


The quintessential exercise is expected to take the university community and the town on a journey of discovering the untapped potential of Nigerian libraries and how they can drive national development.


The lecture will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehi, with Professor Josephat Ogbuagu serving as the Chairman of the Inaugural Lecture Committee.


Apart from being the current University Librarian of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof Anasi is also a Senate member of the University and a Chartered Librarian of Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria. 


She obtained a Bachelor of Education from University of Nigeria, Nsukka and a Master of Public Administration (Human Resources and Personnel Management) from Lagos State University. She also holds a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Library and Information Studies from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. 


Prof Anasi is  also a member of several professional bodies including Nigerian Library Association; Information and Technology section of NLA; Institute of Corporate Administration, and Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP), United Kingdom.


She also belongs to International Federation of Library Associations; Association for Health Information and Libraries in Africa- AHILA, Healthcare Information for All (HIFA) and International Friendship League. 


Her research interests cover a wide range of Librarianship especially resource sharing, information management and services, e-learning, health information dissemination and gender studies. She is a prodigious researcher with over forty publications in national and international refereed journals, and has attended many local and international conferences. 


Prof Anasi is a TETfund grant award winner, a Professional Fellow of Institute of Corporate Administration and a Fellow of Commonwealth Scholarship Commission, United Kingdom. 


She has worked in several tertiary institutions in Nigeria and United Kingdom (during her Commonwealth fellowship). She is happily married and blessed with amazing children.
