The current INEC Chairman is a SAN but I am wondering how INEC led by a SAN has interpreted Status Quo to mean the de- recognition and suspension of the pre- existing leadership of the opposition coalition party,ADC led by Senator David Mark which the law recognize as the prevailing Status Quo pending the determination of any substantive suit against the leadership.
Based on this INEC's illegal action of de- recognition of the pre existing leadership structure of ADC,it is clear that the present INEC Chairman is working dangerously to truncate hard earned democracy in Nigeria with his dictatorial policy and working hand in hand with APC to kill other parties in order to leave APC as the only major party to contest the 2027 general elections unopposed. This is an invitation to anarchy. This must be resisted legally by all well meaning Nigerians..
So if tomorrow a disgruntled impostor and member of APC wakes up and sues the APC current NWC/ NEC leadership seeking to be declared as the authentic National Chairman of APC and the court directed the parties to maintain the Status Quo ante and the impostor in the same manner of ADC impostor Nafiu Bala Gombe wrote a letter to INEC to be recognized as the National Chairman of. APC and APC counters the letter asking INEC not to listen to the impostor, INEC will wake up overnight to interprete the STATUS QUO to mean the de-recognition of the whole leadership of APC which the law recognize as the existing Status Quo.
INEC is clearly crossing the red line.
INEC Chairman must be called to order.
NBA should be Concerned when the Issue of Rule of Law is at Stake
Has the meaning of maintaining the Status Quo changed overnight in Nigeria?
Does maintaining the Status Quo now mean removing a person from his pre-existing right or position?
It is the professional duty the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) owe every Nigerian both lawyers and non lawyers to always act as the public watchdog to ensure that the Rule of law is not trampled under foot.
It is clearly an INEC's impartiality and illegality against the Senator David Mark-led ADC NEC/ NEC de-recognition on 1st April,2026
Certainly,it is not an issue of the matter is in court.Far from it
The issue which NBA should be concerned is that INEC has taken over the duty of a court of law and unilaterally become a judge, heard and adjudged without giving the opportunity of fair hearing under Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria as amended and suspended or removed from its Online Portal registry a recognized political party in Nigeria which happens to be the only remaining major opposition party in Nigeria presently, the AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC) with its pre-existing leadership structure thus prohibiting the coalition party from continuing with its planned activities including the national convention preparatory to contesting the 2027 general elections until such time a case filed at the Federal High Court,Abuja against the authenticity of its (ADC) Leadership is finally heard and disposed of.
This INEC's KANGAROO judgment is happening in a country in which it takes Centuries to hear and finally determine a case.
INEC has no power to usurp the power of a court of law and turn the meaning of STATUS QUO upside down just because it wants to please the APC led Federal Government of Nigeria.
.
This is clearly an issue of Rule of law which NBA should be concerned.
