Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has appointed Professor Peter Azikiwe Onwualu, as the Chairman/Pro-chancellor, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam.
Onwualu is a professor of Agricultural Engineering and current President/Vice Chancellor, African University of Science and Technology, Abuja; and a former Director General/Chief Executive Officer (DG/CEO), Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Abuja.
According to a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Soludo, Mr Christian Aburime, others to serve with him as Board members of the State government owned institution were Chief Christopher Ndubuisi, HRH Igwe Chidiume Oranu, Prof. Josephat Ogbuagu and AIG (Rtd.) Sir Chris Ezike.
"The new Governing Council members are expected to bring their combined wealth of diverse valued experiences to bear on the vision and governance of the university for greater academic excellence", he added.
The Governor, who is also the Visitor to the University, expressed confidence that Professor Onwualu would bring to his new role as Chairman/Pro-Chancellor a vast wealth of experience, exceptional leadership qualities, and expertise that cut across fields.
