Fed Poly Oko flags-off training programme on digitization of students' results





The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, yesterday, flagged-off a two-day training workshop for teaching staff of the institution on digitization of students' results.


Speaking at the ceremony, which took place at the ICT Academy building, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, the Rector explained that the training represents a strategic step towards strengthening the institution's capacity, improving service delivery and aligning the institution with the global best practices.


She described students results' digitization as the use of computer -based systems and digital platforms for recording, processing, retrieving, transmission and management of academic results electronically, instead of relying solely on the manual methods.


The Rector identified delays in results computation and release, calculation errors, loss of records, inefficiency in transcript processing and poor data storage and retrieval system as the major challenges associated with the traditional manual system; while stressing that digitization will address those challenges by ensuring speed, accuracy, accountability, transparency and accessibility.


She encouraged the participants to approach the training with seriousness, openness and willingness to learn.


Director of ICT, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Amobi Chiamogu, expressed gratitude to the Rector for her support, trust, approvals and relentless commitment towards building a digitally-driven institution.


He also enjoined the participants to approach the training with seriousness and commitment, adding that the success of digitization depends, not only on infrastructure and software, but also on the willingness to adapt, improve and embrace innovation.


He further commended the Rector and the entire management team for successfully regaining JAMB UTME CBT Centre accreditation and efficiently hosting UTME examinations.
