Anambra women urge Soludo to declare Okoye APGA candidate for Awka North/South Federal Constituency

Okoye at APGA primary The Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, has urged the leadership of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to uphold his victory in the just-concluded party’s primary election.

The lawmaker made the appeal during a strategic engagement with the Obizi Women Association at his private residence in Amawbia.

Addressing the controversial aftermath of the shadow election, the Deputy Speaker urged the party’s hierarchy to reverse what he characterised as a forcefully subverted mandate.

He cautioned that overriding the democratic will of the party members who came out en masse to support their preferred aspirants introduces severe electoral vulnerabilities ahead of the general polls.

Amid growing concerns that the primary election crisis might trigger a wave of defections, the lawmaker used the grassroots meeting to reassure his supporters and party faithful that he remains a committed member of APGA

He dispelled rumours of a potential exit to an opposition political party, stating that his commitment to resolving the issues remains internal.

In response, leadership representatives from the Obizi Women Association passed a vote of confidence in the lawmaker, citing his impressive legislative track record.

The association joined calls for the party leadership to uphold democratic transparency to ensure APGA’s electoral viability and victory in the general elections.
