Hon. Ikechukwu Okonkwo, the Action Alliance (AA) candidate for Idemili North and South Federal constituency has boasted that among all the political parties candidates jostling to represent Idemili North and south constituency in the Federal house of representatives that he is the only one that has the idea and capacity on how to control and stop the much talked erosion menace tormenting the constituency for a long time.
Disclosing this as well as other programmes while interacting with journalists as a guest speaker during the last Thursday June 4th monthly congress of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Anambra State Council held at the Godwin Ezeemo International Press Center, NUJ Secretariat complex Awka ,Okonkwo noted that he won’t unfold the idea as the idea if unfolded his opponents will steal the idea and start campaigning with it assuring that if elected that he will immediately implement the idea for the longtime problem to be solved permanently.
Hon Okonkwo while thanking Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD, the chairman of NUJ Anambra State Council for the opportunity to speak at the programmes, said he promised to pursue legislation that will attract reliable and affordable electricity that will be available to all communities in the constituency which will in turn attract industrialization especially small scale industrialization that will create jobs for the people, he assured again that he will pursue a bill for creation of well knit security maintenance system to ensure that the people of the constituency are secured as well as attract federal presence on educational scholarship schemes to the less privileged and indigents as well as attract Jobs in federal agencies for the people etc.
The Action Alliance hopeful who revealed that he was one of the founders of Village Boys Movement while assuring that he will partner with journalists by maintaining a strong synergy with the state NUJ executives to ensure the welfare of members are enhanced further promised that he is going to pursue a bill that will grant free tax wavers to low income traders as a way of encouragement to them to enable their business to thrive.
He said, "I am not going to the house of representatives to relax,I am going there to work to ensure that the problem of my constituency is addressed. I am going to pursue the welfare of all, going by the fact that the constituency host about five major markets in the state, one of my major priorities will be to pursue a bill that will make it possible for government to give traders in the constituency free tax wavers especially low income traders for their businesses to thrive".
Earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ Anambra State Council, Comrade Odogwu Emeka Odogwu PhD, commended the AA House of Representatives candidate for his courage to participate in the election, wishing him successful outing, insisting that rhe partnership will take him heights in his political journey.
A senior journalist and South East Burea Chief of Champion Newspapers, Kasie Abone in her lecture on her journey into journalism, assured that personal carriage, free mindset, truthful reporting, honesty in dealing with others and standing by the people especially the oppressed is everything about professionalism and ethics in journalism.
She encouraged journalists not utilize the bragging rights in journalism to rhe advantage of the society for a better, prosperous and egalitarian society rather than mundane things and self glory.
NUJ National Icon, and NUJ Anambra Matriarch, Prof Chinyere Stella Okunna among other prominent members of the union attended the June Congress of the NUJ Anambra State Council.
Hon Ikechukwu Okonkwo was flanked by his friend Eduna Chinedu Joshua contesting for Ezza North Constituency, Ebonyi State House of Assembly under NDC .
