A Gender Magistrate Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State, has remanded 12 people in correctional facilities over alleged cases of abduction, rape, defilement, child abuse, abduction, and assault.
According to a statement from State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects reportedly committed the offences within the State and were remanded on Wednesday pending the hearing of their respective cases.
The suspects included Chima Onyeanuna, Emeka Muo and Okafor Chibundu accused of abducting and defiling a 14-year-old girl in Nanka, Orumba North Council Area; and Chukwudi Ugwu Jeremiah that allegedly defiled a 11-year old girl, along Slaughter Lane, Awka.
Others were Ndubuisi Ikechebelu, Udogu Kennedy, Nnamah Christopher, and Chinecherem Emmanuel for allegedly raping and impregnating 19-year-old girl, Charity Anakwe and Chidiere Anakwe who allegedly assaulted their 12-year-old house help, Chukwudi Joseph that allegedly assaulted a 12-year old girl, and Chibuike Agu for defiling a 13-year old girl.
He reassured of the command's readiness to investigate such cases and brought offenders to justice in accordance with the law.
