Anambra community mourns oldest man who dies at 125 years

Ebenebe community in Awka North Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State has declared mourning over the death of her oldest man, late Chief Matthew Udengwu Chinevu (alias Nwa-Ojiaka).


Chinevu, from Umudiaba kindred in Umuajana village, Ebenbe, died at 125 years old on October 2nd, 2026 but was committed to the mother earth on October 3, 2026.


The Traditional Ruler of Ebenebe community, ÃŒgwè Christopher Nnaegbuna, who disclosed this while addressing journalists, explained that the deceased was the seventh to attend such height as oldest person from his kindred in recent time. 


Ìgwè Nnaegbuna, who is also the State Deputy Chairman and Southeast Zonal Chairman of Traditional State Traditional Rulers Council, praised the deceased for living an upright life which according to him worth emulating.


He further revealed that the late centurion would receive a befitting burial at an appropriate date to be unveiled by the family and community having lived a longer and impactful life.
