Prof Allen emerges substantive Dean of UNIZIK's faculty of Communication and media studies

The newly established Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS), Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Friday, elected Professor Allen Adum as its pioneer Dean.



Adum, from the Department of Development Communication Studies (DevCom), emerged winner unopposed with a total number of 52 yes votes cast by the faculty members, comprising professors, readers, senior lecturers, and other academics.

The University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ugochukwu Anyaehie, who conducted the election at the Department of Mass Communication auditorium, congratulated the substantive Dean, urging faculty members to give him necessary support for a successful two years term.

Anyaehie, represented by the Provost of the College of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Chukwudebere Obidimma, also appreciated the FCMS faculty members for their conducts during the election, expressing optimism that it would grow to become one of the best in the institution.

In acceptance speech, the Dean, Professor Allen Adum, said he was overwhelmed by the support, and pledged to run an open door policy which would involve every staff of the faculty and students to excel individually and collectively.

Also speaking, the Head, Department of Journalism and Media Studies, Professor Uche Victor Ebeze, expressed confidence that the Dean position would enable Professor Adum to continue with good works he has started having mastered the terrain.

FactCheckNg.com reported that FCMS came into the limelight in July 2026 with Professor Adum as its Acting Dean, and five Departments such as Mass Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, Development Communication Studies, Advertising, and Broadcasting.
