Anambra state Police command has arrested a 20-year-old sugarcane seller, Mr Jubrin Mohammed for allegedly stabbing his colleague, Mr Hamisu Ibrahim, aged 25 during a fight at Onitsha.
According the state police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Muhammed, the suspect, who hails from Jigawa state same as the deceased, allegedly perpetrated the at about 10am on September 30 along Onitsha-Enugu Express way, Onitsha.
“ Scene of crime was visited by Police detectives attached to Awada Division and suspect was arrested. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor while relatives of the deceased declined autopsy on religious ground.
“ However, photograph was taken and corpse released to relatives as requested for burial according to Islamic rites. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police CP John B.Abang has ordered for the transfer of the case to the State CID for discreet investigation after which suspect would be charged to court for prosecution,” he stated.
