A top contender on Anambra State 2021 gubernatorial poll, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, has said he was more qualified to govern the state if presented with his party, People's Democratic Party (PDP) ticket.
Ozigbo, who hails from Aguata, one of the seven Council Areas in Anambra South Senatorial District whose turn it was to replace the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano, given the state political zoning formulae, said he was confident that he would emerge a consensus candidate of PDP to further defeat candidates of other political parties.
PDP had through its various leaders in the state said it had no plan of zoning the state number one seat to Anambra South as championed by All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and other stakeholders from the state.
But reacting to a question in the subject matter, the former President and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria plc, in a virtual media parley on Thursday, disclosed that his experience, goodwill and outstanding achievements endeared him to hearts of all stakeholders and voters with or without zoning.
He, however, counselled the PDP to reconsider its stand of not zoning the 2021 governorship seat, because according to him, the heartbeat of the people of the state were currently with Anambra South Senatorial District.

“I will consolidate on the achievements of former governor Peter Obi. He is the best governor Anambra state has ever produced. I will also improve on any good project initiated by Governor Willie Obiano's administration. I can’t rule out the fact that there are some aspects of his administration that is commendable. I have the goodwill of our people at heart,” he added.
Ozigbo, while dismissing the allegations that he was being sponsored by some top political godfathers in the state, said he rather maintains good relationship with all stakeholders and people, adding that if given opportunity, Anambra state would experience good turn around in all sectors especially in the area of Health and Education.
“I have the wherewithal to prosecute the 2021 governorship race and win. But we won't be extravagant. Some have linked me with Mr Peter Obi, others with Chief Chris Uba, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu and a host of others . That shows I'm popular across the board,” he stated.
